Grow with Emma
Care for God's Creation

Dear Friend,
In Growing God, Emma's Nana reveals how even the tiniest seed can become something spectacular. Can you imagine that your leftover banana peel and paper towel roll can do the same? It's true! A little patience and care can transform the things we throw away.

Beginning a Composting Practice becomes a beautiful parallel for the Resurrection and a powerful act of care for God's creation. As Emma waits patiently for her seeds to sprout, God is working in the garden of her heart. This kit will nurture not only the Outside Garden of the Earth, but also the Inside Garden of the heart.

Teachers, parents, guardians, students, catechists, humans—you're invited.
Deepen your faith through prayer and creativity as you learn to compost!
With care,
Karen and Megan

Pause and Pray
A taste of what's inside—slow down this Lent and practice praying with every breath.

How do we compost at the c21 center? Like this!

We use compostable produce bags or brown paper bags to collect food waste throughout the day—we keep our mini bin right near the trash with a cheat sheet reminder!

Throughout the week, we keep day-to-day scraps in the freezer (so they don't stink!)

Don't forget to check if your grocery store's produce bags are compost certified!
At the end of the week, we bring the bag from the freezer to the compost heap at the "Real Food Garden" at Boston College, or to a local community food waste bin managed by PROJECT OSCAR.
